with a Q & A session

"My voice is in my paintings,
telling stories of the journey
of GETTING TO THE POINT,
where THE INNER and THE OUTER,
THE ONE and THE MANY,
merge in peace.
How close we are—
ART can tell."

JULY 30/31 - Peter Gric
Amazing Options in Acrylic Painting Techniques. Discover, Explore, Experiment !
Peter Gric's weekend seminar is an introduction in his layered acrylic technique of painting. Due to its flexibility acrylics can be used in various ways and approaches. Since acrylics are water based but insoluble after drying, they can be applied in many transparent layers very quickly. Many tools and techniques can be used to create all sorts of textures instantly which can become a great base for a painting. An acrylic underpainting can be a solid matrix for a traditional technique like oil, or the oil-tempera "Mischtechnik", or in combination with air-brush acrylics, but furthermore can be used as a "stand-alone" method in order to create a depth and density that is in no way inferior to traditional techniques of painting.
Android-Pietà, 2015, Acrylic on fiberboard, 32 x 40 cm, 12.6" x 15.75"
Peter Gric was born in former Czechoslovakia in 1968 as the only child of the artist-couple, Ludmila and Jaroslav Gric. Already, in his early childhood, his parents recognized and supported his talent for drawing and painting. In 1980 his parents decided to emigrate and via Hungary and Yugoslavia they finally arrived in Austria. They spent the first year near Reichenau an der Rax before they moved to Linz where Peter finished a technical college for Graphic Design. In 1988 he came to Vienna to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in the master class of Prof. Arik Brauer. Even as a student he already participated in numerous group exhibitions and started to become successful in selling his paintings. He finished his studies in 1993 earning a Masters degree in Fine Arts. In 2009 Peter moved from Vienna to Oberhöflein at the Hohe Wand plateau nearby the Eastern Alps of Austria.
